As many of you are aware I was due to be taking on a deca triathlon starting 04/04/2020, however due to the COVID-19 I am in lockdown for 12 weeks with my wife who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. As mentioned in a recent post I have to make sure my immune system is at its best to help keep me healthy for my girls, so any major challenge is out of the question. So to keep motivated over the next 12 weeks I have come up with a challenge to keep myself physically and mentally in tip-top condition. The difference with this challenge is you can join in too.

The Challenge

There are Three Challenges:
  1. Lockdown 250 (aimed at people in 3 week lockdown/isolation)
  2. Lockdown 500 (aimed at people in 3 week lockdown/isolation)
  3. Lockdown 2020 (aimed at people in 12 week lockdown/isolation)
These challenges are designed for people who have turbo trainers/ Watt bikes etc with them in isolation and have a way of recording their miles.

Lockdown 250:  This is aimed at people who are in a three week lockdown/ isolation
It’s simple really all you have to do is aim to cover 250 miles in 3 weeks.
That’s just under 12 miles a day.

Lockdown 500:  This is aimed at people who are in a three week lockdown/ isolation
It’s simple really all you have to do is aim to cover 500 miles in 3 weeks.
That’s just under 24 miles a day.

Lockdown 2020:  This is aimed at people who are in a 12 week lockdown with loved ones on the shielded list.
It’s simple really all you have to do is aim to cover 2020 miles in 12 weeks.
That’s just over 24 miles a day.

Cost

There is no cost to this challenge, however I would really appreciate if you are taking part you could make a small donation to the HMSA via the page I had set up for my cancelled challenge (Definitive Deca Triathlon)
I appreciate times are difficult and money will inevitably be tighter than normal, but even a £5 or £10 donation would all add up to help out this amazing charity. If you’re not in a position to donate at this time, you could just share what you’re doing and the charity link on your social media.

Motivation

I have set up a facebook group for anyone who wishes to join in with this challenge please click the link and ask to join. There you can post up about how you’re doing and help encourage others to reach goals in these tough times.

Important

As with any exercise and challenges there is a possibility of physical injury. You should be in good physical condition to be able to participate in this challenge and would recommend that you consult with your doctor before taking part.
If you join in this challenge, you agree that you do so at your own risk and are voluntarily participating in these activities, assuming all risk of injury to yourself.
